Elk to meet March 3

ESCANABA — The Elks Auxiliary will hold their March meeting on Thursday, March 3. Social hour is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:45 p.m with the meeting to follow. Contact Peggy at 786-4278 or text 280-1585 with dinner reservations/cancelations no later than Monday, February 28 at noon.

Legion steak dinner

GLADSTONE — Gladstone American Legion Post 71 will host a steak dinner Thursday, February 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

NARFE Chapter 1900 meeting Feb. 23

MARQUETTE — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1900 will hear a presentation on the “dos and don’ts of recycling” at its next meeting. The session will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, and will be offered in person and on Zoom.

The presenter will be Bradley Austin, director of operations for the Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority.

The in-person meeting will be in Room B of the Marquette Senior Center, 300 W. Spring Street in Marquette, on the lower level of City Hall. Spring Street is one-way from east to west.

Chapter members will receive the Zoom link by email. Members who are not on the Chapter email distribution and who want to receive the Zoom link and passcode should email upmags@gmail.com.

Any active or retired Federal employees are invited to attend NARFE meetings. Non-members are welcome as guests.

NARFE Chapter 1900 was chartered in 1983 and includes members from the Marquette, Escanaba, Rapid River, Ontonagon, L’Anse, Houghton and Hancock areas. For additional information please email upmags@gmail.com.

St. Thomas breakfast

ESCANABA — The St. Thomas breakfast is March 6 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, juice and coffee will be served. The public is welcome.

The St. Thomas pasty sale is March 9 and 10 in the Parish Hall. Call Debbie at (906) 399-4259 to order plain or with rutabaga.
