Wells Lions 52-week ­raffle ­winners named

WELLS — The winners of the Wells Lions Club 52-week raffles for Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 have been named.

For Nov. 30, which was week 18 of the raffle, the winners were Virginia Tucker of Gladstone and Marlene Wiltizus of Escanaba. They won $250 each.

The winner of the Dec. 7 drawing, which was for week 19 of the raffle, the winner was Dave Harris of Escanaba, who won $100.

Veterans mobile pantry

RAPID RIVER — A free food giveaway for veterans is set for Dec, 17, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., or until food runs out. The veterans mobile pantry will be located at 10556 Pine Street, Rapid River.

This mobile pantry is only for veterans. Veterans are asked to have their veteran ID, DL enhancement, VA ID, or DD214. Please do not get out of the vehicle, do not wander around the distribution site, and do not bring boxes — they will be provided.

Labyrinth available

GLADSTONE — Trinity Episcopal Church in Gladstone is inviting the public to use its labyrinth, located on the corner of 9th Street and Dakota Avenue.

The labyrinth is a type of prayer walk that has been used for centuries. Individuals pray as they follow the path. For more information, call 906-474-9926.

First UMC Cookie Walk canceled for 2020

ESCANABA — Due to concerns about COVID-19, the First United Methodist Church of Escanaba, located at 302 S. 6th St., will not be holding its annual Cookie Walk in December.

This will be the first time the church has not held a cookie walk since 1993. The church hopes to bring the tradition back in 2021.

Rapid River Christmas program ­canceled

RAPID RIVER — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will not be an elementary Christmas program at Rapid River Public Schools this year.
