Promenade schedule

MENOMINEE — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, La Societe Des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux, Menominee County Voiture 1288 has not held a promenade so far this year.

The March Promenade was scheduled to be at the Stephenson Legion but the governor prohibited gatherings and non-essential travel.

The following is the schedule for upcoming promenades:

July 21 — Promenade at the Carney-Nadeau American Legion

August 18 — Promenade at the Hermansville American Legion

In addition, Voiture 1288 has scheduled their nurses training gun raffle for Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Carney-Nadeau American Legion. The event is the only fundraiser the Voiture holds.

Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER — Maintaining safe social distance, perhaps using patio-seating, the Rapid Readers will meet Thursday, July 16 to discuss “Speaking Truth to Power” by Anita Hill and “Before We Were Yours” by Lisa Wingate. The group will meet at Jack’s at 10 a.m.

The August discussion is penciled in for the second Thursday of the month — a departure from the group’s typical third-Thursday meetings — on Aug. 13 at Jack’s. The August novels are “The Huntress” by Kate Quinn and Jim Harrison’s “The Great Leader.”

New members are welcome. Call Peg Netchey at 428-9668 with any questions.
