Color, honor guards recognized for service

GLADSTONE — On Jan. 19, Wayne Berthaume, commander of the Gladstone American Legion Post 71 color guard, presented honors to five color guard members for their participation at community functions including basketball games, baseball tournaments, the Army and Air Force band performances at Escanaba’s Ludington Park, and helping out at funerals.

Honors were given to five color guard members: Gragia Day, Tony Sustarich, Randy Bruntjen, Don Couillard, and Berthaume.

The Veterans’ Honor Guard was also recognized for its help at funerals. The honor guard is composed of Ron Trekas, Lewis Carrol, Ivan Gagne, Bill Lamarch, Louis Gendron, Gerry Rivard, Gary Gray, Barry Holm, George Maciejewski, and Berthaume.

Berthaume expressed his thanks to Commander Darren Foulker and his wife Bev for letting the color guard use the Post 71 Legion Club for get-togethers.
