Bay College nursing students collect donations for local homeless
ESCANABA — For the community service project in their Leadership in Nursing course, a group of Bay College nursing students chose to team up with Hope at The Inn of Delta County, a mobile homeless shelter that allows those in need to stay at area churches.
The students’ goal is to create 50 “care bags” of necessities for those in need. They are seeking donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, mouth wash, laundry detergent, combs, hairbrushes, women’s toiletries, cotton hats, gloves/mittens, hand warmers, cotton or wool socks, baby wipes, gum and pre-packaged snacks (such as Goldfish snack crackers, animal crackers, granola bars, and beef sticks).
The nursing students are collecting donations from Feb. 10 through 24. Collection boxes are set up at the Bay College Library; Wellspring Community Church, located in the Delta Plaza Mall; and Serenity Salon of Escanaba.
Arrangements can be made to have donations picked up, as well. Contact Christa Sherman at 906-748-8556 for more information.
