Menominee Library wants families to ROAR

STEPHENSON — Research shows that early experiences with books and making reading fun improves a child’s ability to be a successful learner. The Menominee County Library is committed to supporting educators, parents and our community in “Raising Outrageously Awesome Readers” (ROAR).

ROAR means providing storytimes in classrooms for pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students during the Bookmobile visits to area schools. It also means there are storytimes at the Hermansville Branch on Thursday and at the main branch on Friday and Saturday morning.

All ages are welcome at library programs.

Children in the community are encouraged to stop in to share favorite books, participate in an activity or craft and enjoy a snack. Preschool children can be signed up at either branch for the “1000 Books Before Kindergarten” program, and any child can participate in the Subway Reading Challenge by setting and meeting their personal reading goals each month. Menominee County Library Subway reading incentive coupons are good at both the Stephenson and Powers restaurants.

Help make reading fun and add visiting the library to your regular routine.

The Menominee County Library is open to the public with branches in Stephenson, Hermansville and the Bookmobile. For more information, contact or visit the Menominee County Library at 906-753-6923, visit www.uproc.lib.mi.us/menominee, or stop in at S.319 Railroad St. in Stephenson.
