AAUW Homes for the Holidays event returns

GLADSTONE — “AAUW Homes for the Holidays” will be held on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 1 until 4 p.m.

The five Gladstone homes featured this year are: The Arko Home, 1900 Lake Shore Drive; The Smith Home, 1204 Lake Shore Drive; The Bialik Home, 1024 Lake Shore Drive; The Skellenger Home, 1000 Lake Shore Drive; and the Waeghe Home, 802 Wisconsin Ave.

Tickets are available at Positively and Gust Asp in Escanaba and The Frame Farm in Gladstone. Ticket holders must be 16 years of age or older. There will be no ticket sales at the door.

Proceeds from this event provide funding for the two AAUW scholarships at Bay College.

Christmas bazaar Dec. 8

ESCANABA — The St. Anthony/St. Thomas Annual Christmas Bazaar will take place Sunday, Dec. 8 in the St. Thomas Parish Hall, located at 1820 9th Ave. North in Escanaba. A meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There is a cost for the meal. There will also be a cash raffle, silver dollar games, 50/50 raffles, basket raffles, a bake sale, silent auction, crafts and more.

Takeout meals are available. All are welcome.

Elks Auxiliary to meet

ESCANABA — The December Elks Auxiliary meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5. Social hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will begin at 7 p.m., with the meeting to follow. For reservations or cancellations, call Peggy at 786-4278 or text 280-1585 by noon on Monday, Dec. 2.

Toys will be collected for Toys for Tots at the meeting.

Post to serve breakfast

HERMANSVILLE — American Legion Post 340 in Hermansville will be holding a pancake and French toast breakfast on Sunday, Nov. 24 from 8 to 11 a.m. CST.

Pie sale Wednesday

POWERS — The Grace Lutheran Ladies are having a pie and bake sale in place of the chili feed in the entrance and basement of the church on Wednesday, Nov. 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. All the pies and baked goods will be fresh and homemade.

The Grace Lutheran Church is located at the corner of U.S. 2 and Main Street in Powers. It’s the “Little White Church” just north of the U.S. 2 underpass. Look for the signs.

Meat pies for sale

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Auxiliary, Gladstone, is making meat pies, which will be available on Friday, Dec. 6. To order, call 906-428-1050.

Elks memorial service

ESCANABA — Each year, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks remembers and honors departed members with a memorial service. The Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 will conduct their annual memorial service for deceased Elks when Exalted Ruler Steve Victorson and Elks officers perform the ceremony in the Lodge, located at 510 Ludington Street in Escanaba on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 12:30 p.m.

The deceased Elks of the past year are: William L. Meiers Sr, Robert J Johnson, John A. Fisher Jr, Jim Rogers, Matthew G. Snyder, Hjalmer A. Olsen, Dale Koski, David Haelterman, James P. Chapekis, Patrick G. Henderson, Thomas J. Ammel (PDDGER), Ray Fontaine, Karl G. Gipp, Dr. Richard Stanchina and William Sauter (PER).

Following the ceremony, the Elks Auxiliary will serve lunch for family members and friends in the Elks dining room. The public is welcome.

Taco Tuesday returns

GLADSTONE — Taco Tuesday is back at the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Serving is from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

The events are held at Gladstone American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71, 802 Delta Ave. in Gladstone.
