Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER — Rapid Readers will examine Donna Tartt’s “The Goldfinch” on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. New members are welcome.

Sons of the American Legion meeting set

GLADSTONE — The next meeting of the Gladstone Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 will be on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Sons meet at American Legion, 802 Delta Ave in Gladstone.

If you are a male descendant of a veteran who has served since Dec. 7, 1941, you are eligible for membership.

Harvest dinner Oct. 13

GLADSTONE — All Saints Church in Gladstone, located on the corner of 8th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, will hold its Annual Harvest Dinner on Sunday Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

All proceeds go to purchase Christmas baskets for the needy. There is a cost to attend the dinner. A raffle drawing will take place at 2 p.m. A silver dollar game and other children’s games will also take place.

UMC Spaghetti dinner Saturday in Trenary

TRENARY — The Trenary United Methodist Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Oct. 12 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the church in Trenary. A free will offering will be collected with 10 percent of funds raised given back to the community.

Dance in Rock Sunday

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd., on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Ron Jay & The Country Strangers.

There is a cost at the door and a free-will donation lunch will be available.

Cancer fundraiser in Bark River Oct. 20

BARK RIVER — A spaghetti dinner, bake sale, and silent auction will take place at Salem Lutheran Church, located at 4304 D Road in Bark River on Oct. 20. The event, which is hosted by the Salem Lutheran Cancer Support group, will benefit local families by helping with cancer related expenses.

The event kicks off at 11:30 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m. EST, with the silent auction closing at 2 p.m. A free-will offering will also be taken at the event.

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Legion Post 301 will hold an all you can eat breakfast on Sunday Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. until noon. There is a fee for the breakfast.

Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club to meet

ESCANABA — The next meeting of the Bay de Noc Stamp and Coin Club is Monday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Joseph Heirman University Center, room 961, at Bay College. The public is always welcome at the meetings, and anyone with coins or stamps needing appraisal are invited.

GARDEN — Garden Christian Fellowship along with Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church will hold their Harvest Bazaar, Silent Basket Auction and Luncheon on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at 6411 State St., Garden.
