Eagles breakfast Aug. 18

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles 1088 will serve breakfast Sunday, Aug. 18, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Eagles Hall, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba.

The public is welcome to attend. There is a fee to attend the breakfast.

Honoree Dinner canceled

GARDEN — The Honoree Dinner, sponsored by the Garden Peninsula Historical Society, has been canceled. Honorees will be notified when a new date has been chosen for the event. The society apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Health and Wellness Fair

ESCANABA — The Bay College Health and Wellness Fair, sponsored by the Human Services Club, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bay College in the Besse Center/HUB.

Salvation Army social services available

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Donations for Jacobetti Home for Veterans

ESCANABA — Those wishing to donate to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette can drop off items at the Amvets Post 123 located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba.

Items can include Forever stamps, personal fans, watches with stretch bands, electric razors (cordless), personal CD players/radios, current magazines, and more.

The home for veterans is currently not accepting clothing protectors, and until further notice, will not accept lap robes and books due to an ample supply.

Seventh Day Adventist food pantry hours

ESCANABA — The Community Service Center food pantry adjacent to the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Escanaba is open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday and Saturday.

Nacho Saturday set

ESCANABA — The 4th Annual Nacho Saturday fundraiser for the Hope at the Inn (HATI) homeless shelter will be Saturday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 3001 5th Ave. South in Escanaba.

Meals will be available for dine-in or carry out. Nacho Saturday attendees receive a nacho plate, soft drink and dessert.

Pinatas and face painting will be available for children to enjoy at the event.

Proceeds will go towards shelter operations and guest services as HATI prepares to open for its 7th season starting Nov. 3. Information will be available at the event for those wishing to learn more about shelter operations and volunteer opportunities.

Lakeview Cemetery accepting donations

ESCANABA — Lakeview Cemetery will be accepting donations for its annual fall rummage sale. No clothing will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the cemetery.

To drop off or have items picked up, call 906-789-1442 or 906-786-7173.

No donations will be accepted after Sept. 5.

Breakfast planned

GLADSTONE — The Sons of the American Legion is sponsoring an “all-you-can-eat” breakfast on Sunday, Aug. 18 at the American Legion, 802 Delta Ave. Gladstone, from 9 a.m. to noon. Call the Legion at 906-428-1050 for more information.
