Dance Sunday at Rock Senior Center

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Road, on Sunday, April 14, from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Old Friends.

There is a fee to attend and a free will donation for lunch.

St. Thomas breakfast

ESCANABA — Breakfast will be served at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1820 9th Avenue North, Escanaba, Sunday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All are welcome. There is a cost at the door.

Ham radio exams today at Gladstone City Hall

GLADSTONE — The Delta County Amateur Radio Society will be holding ham radio exams in Gladstone on Saturday, April 13.

Applicants need to bring a photo ID and there is a fee to cover the cost of the exam. Upgrade applicants need to also bring a photocopy of their license.

The testing will begin at 10 a.m. at Gladstone City Hall.

Rapid River Legion plans breakfast for Sunday

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid River Legion Post 301 will be having its Second Sunday “All You Can Eat Breakfast” on Sunday, April 14, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Rapid River Legion Hall.

There will be a fee collected at the door.

Annual Scenic Shore 5K Run/1 Mile Walk returns

GLADSTONE — The Eighth Annual Scenic Shore 5K Run/1 Mile Walk will be held Saturday, June 15. Registration will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and the race will begin at 10 a.m. at 303 N. 8th St., Gladstone.

Pre-register and pay by June 5 to receive a discount.

Broncos scholarship breakfast Saturday

BARK RIVER — The Bark Rivers Lions Club will be hosting the Broncos Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday, April 14 at the Bark Rivers Seniors Center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

All proceeds go toward four scholarships for Bark River-Harris School students.

All About Animals returns to the U.P.

ESCANABA — All About Animals Rescue from Warren, Mich. will be returning to the Upper Peninsula the week of May 5. AAAR is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization that helps low-income residents with reduced cost pet spay/neuter and basic wellness services.

The mobile unit will be in Escanaba at Tractor Supply on May 6 and 7. It will also be at the Hannahville H.I.C. Community Center in Wilson on May 8 and 9 for tribal members, descendants, and residents.

Gladstone American Legion breakfast

GLADSTONE — The American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone will be serving breakfast on Sunday April 14, from 9 a.m. until noon. The public is welcome.

Book donations needed

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

There is a new drop-off site this year. Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours. You can also call Pat Rudden at 280-1789 for pick up.
