New women’s veterans group to meet Monday

MANISTIQUE — A women’s veterans group will meet at The 40 Bar and Grill, 100 S. 2nd Street, Manistique, Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. The only requirement to attend is having served in the military. No era, no duration, no rank or rating is required.

NAMI to meet

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers free, confidential peer support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

A support group will gather Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. in the Baraga Place Conference Room, 129 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette. For more information, call 906-360-7107, visit www.namiam.org, or follow the group on Facebook.

If NMU cancels evening classes due to weather, the NAMI meeting will also be canceled.

Slingers to play Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123, located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba, is featuring country band Slingers from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday March 22. The public is welcome.

New Menominee County Library hours start soon

STEPHENSON — The Menominee County Library has new hours starting April 1. Hours are Monday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The library is closed Sunday.

Library programs are free and everyone is welcome. Upcoming events and programs can be found on the Library webpage, or patrons can “like” the library on Facebook to receive notices.

Toddler Storytime with a craft and snack is held every Friday at 10 a.m.

Feel free to stop in and join the discussion with the Turning Leaves Book Club. The group meets the fourth Thursday of the Month at 1 p.m. April’s selection is “Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore” by Robin Sloan — contact the library to reserve a copy.

The Menominee County Library is open to the public with free Wi-Fi and public computers. Library patrons can borrow DVDs, audiobooks, magazines, and download e-books, audio books, and movies. Feel free to ask library staff for help to set up your device. Fish fry, auction planned to ­support CBC

MANISTIQUE — A fish fry and brown bag auction will take place Friday, April 5 at the Manistique Moose Lodge. Dinner and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. The public is welcome, and all proceeds from the auction will be donated to the CBC.

Those attending the event are asked to bring a brown bag donation if they are able.

Book donations needed

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale in August. They are also in need of large print books, which are often requested.

Funds from the annual sale are used to publish voter guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition.

There is a new drop-off site this year. Books can be delivered to the Daily Press Business Office at 600 Ludington Street during normal business hours. You can also call Pat Rudden at 280-1789 for pick up.
