Class of 1963 lunch

ESCANABA — The gals of the Escanaba High School Class of 1963 will be holding a monthly noon ladies’ lunch the second Wednesday of every month at the Family Inn Restaurant. Friends and spouses of class members are welcome.

Grief group meets Jan. 9

ESCANABA — The OSF Home Care Community Grief Group can provide a warm, caring and confidential environment that allows you the opportunity to be supported by others who understand. No one is alone in this process.

OSF Home Care – 2018 Community Grief Group meetings are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. EST at Central United Methodist Church, 322 S. Lincoln Road, Escanaba. The next meeting will take place on Jan. 9.

Donations for D.J. Jacobetti Home

ESCANABA — Those wishing to donate to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette can drop off items at the Amvets Post 123 located at 1315 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba.

Items can include Forever stamps, personal fans, watches with stretch bands, electric razors (cordless), personal CD players/radios, current magazines, and more.

The home for veterans is currently not accepting clothing protectors, and – until further notice — will not accept lap robes and books due to an ample supply.

Firefighters to hold New Year’s Eve party

BRAMPTON — The Brampton Volunteer Fire Department’s Annual New Year’s Eve Party will be at the Gladstone American Legion on Dec. 31. Doors open at 7 p.m. and dinner is at 7:30.

There is a cost at the door, which includes a buffet-style meal, pop and beer, party favors, champagne and snacks at midnight and live music with “The Bear Walkers.” The evening will also include a 50/50 drawing, raffles, bucket draws and door prizes.

DAV meeting is Jan. 7

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Jan. 7 at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

All disabled veterans are welcome.

Legion opens library

RAPID RIVER — Walter W. Cole American Legion Post 301 in Rapid River has opened a library in the legion hall.

The library is free to all and is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays, Service Officer Wednesday, as well as any other days that the hall is open to the public.

BR-H Class of 1956

HARRIS — The Bark River-Harris Class of 1956 will be having a class reunion on July 6, 2019, at the Terrace Bay Hotel. Anyone who would like to attend is asked to call Pat Taylor at 906-428-1904.

Salvation Army soup kitchen, social services

ESCANABA — Social service assistance from the Salvation Army is available 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in the Community Services Building.

The Soup Kitchen is open noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Dance in Rock

ROCK — A dance will be held at the Rock Community/Senior Center, located at 3892 W. Mapleridge Rd, on Sunday, Jan. 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Will Kilpela & Kenny.

There is a cost at the door and a free-will donation will be collected for lunch.

All proceeds benefit the Rock Senior Corporation. For more information, call Alice at 356-6588.
