Lions 52 Club Raffle

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club raffle for the week of Sept. 17 is Bob Vardigan of Escanaba. Vardigan won $100. This was week seven of the raffle.

Delta Alano Club marks its 35th anniversary

GLADSTONE — The 35th anniversary celebration of the Delta Alano Club will be Sunday, Sept. 23. The day’s activities will begin at 3:35 p.m. with the annual business meeting. At 4:30, Pat H. will recount the history of the club and share stories about the founding members. Potluck supper will follow her talk.

American Legion Posts plan fall meeting

LITTLE LAKE Mich. — The U.P.A.A.L.P. 2018 fall meeting is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6 at Little Lake Post 349.

– At 9 a.m. (EDT) the Service Officers School of Instruction will take place. Officer Alphonse VanHese and 12th District Service Officer Jerry Williams will conduct this session at Post 349.

– 10:30 a.m. (EDT) 11th and 12th Districts – Post 349

– Noon lunch – Post 349

– 1 p.m. U.P.A.A.L.P. – Post 349

Fall Festival set at IXL Museum Sept. 22

HERMANSVILLE — The IXL Historical Museum in Hermansville will hold its annual fall festival and farmers’ market on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors are welcome to bring a table or two to sell garden produce, flowers, seeds, perennials, crafts, gifts, jewelry and specialty foods. Hot pasties, hot coffee, water will be available for purchase, as well as baked sweets. There will be face painting for the children and fun old car rides.

Setup is at 9 a.m. A donation per table is requested. Call 906-236-5163 for more info. Event will be cancelled if the weather is bad.

NAMI support group meets Sept. 20

MARQUETTE — The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette offers free, confidential peer support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.

A support group will gather Thursday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Baraga Place Conference Room, 129 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette. For more information call 906-360-7107, or visit www.namiam.org.

In case of bad weather, if NMU cancels evening classes, the NAMI meeting will also be cancelled.

Toastmasters to meet

ESCANABA — Bay De Noc Toastmasters develops communication and leadership skills every Wednesday, except the last Wednesday of the month, at noon in the Penstar Building, located at 1431 N. 26th St, Escanaba.

Fall craft show planned

ISABELLA — The third annual fall craft show at the Isabella Community Hall will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The hall is located at the corner of U.S. 2 and County Rd. 495, also called “LL Road.”

Lunch will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the ongoing restoration projects at the historic community hall.

Kiwanis, Key Club chicken barbecue set

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone – Rapid River Kiwanis and Key Clubs will present their annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gladstone Middle School/Jones School cafeteria.

Home and business delivery is available by calling 428-2261 by Oct. 5.

Tickets are available at Pat’s Foods, Gladstone City Hall, Darmogray Jewelers. Tickets can also be purchased from any Gladstone-Rapid River Kiwanis, Gladstone Key Club and Rapid River Key Club Member. Other items available to purchase will be Sayklly’s caramel apples both with and without nuts or dark chocolate and sea salt caramel apples.
