Elies mark 60 years of marriage

Lawrence and Victoria Charlebois

ESCANABA — Lawrence J. Elie II and the former Victoria A. Charlebois, of Escanaba, were married 60 years ago on Sept. 30, 1961, at Saint Thomas Church in Escanaba by Fr. Donald Shiroda.

Lawrence was a teacher for 25 years in Rock, Mid Pen and Gladstone schools. He coached basketball, track and cross county. He was — and still is — a registered boxing coach and trainer since 1961.

Victoria was a registered real estate agent for Statewide Real Estate for 13 years. She retired as a cook from Escanaba Schools. She likes line dancing, dominoes, knitting, sewing quilting, talking to her children and volunteering “where ever help is needed.”

Lawrence and Victoria are active volunteers in R.S.V.P.

The couple are members of Saint Anne’s Church in Escanaba and parents to seven children: Lawrence III (Lura), James (Patty), Wayne (Diane), Gregg (Marilyn), Michelle (Sam) Helpinstall, Melissa (Christian) Nelson and Christopher (Nicole).

They also have 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
