Players de Noc presents ‘Dinner with Friends’

ESCANABA — Players de Noc is featuring the play “Dinner with Friends” at the William Bonifas Fine Arts theater. The show opens tonight.

The play revolves around two friends who are experiencing the divorce of two of their close friends. Karen and Gabe, portrayed by Jon Johnson and Jessica Pelto, have been friends with Beth and Tom, played by Mark Cowman and Lisa Boggs, for over a decade.

One night, Karen and Gabe have a dinner with Beth, who announces her break-up with Tom. Unable to defend himself since he was not present, Tom gets angry, despite being the one who left for another woman.

The play presents twists and turns from past and present that leave Karen and Gabe questioning their own relationship.

“Dinner with Friends” was the 2000 Pulitzer Prize winner for drama. This play contains strong language and may not be suitable for all audiences. It is being directed by Steve O’Driscoll.

Showtimes include April 27 and 28, and May 3, 4, and 5 at 8 p.m. A Sunday matinee will be held on April 29 at 2 p.m.
