Marquette uses late run to get past Braves
GLADSTONE — The Gladstone boys fell victim to Marquette’s late run here Thursday night, dropping a 60-57 basketball decision to the Sentinels. Gladstone led 55-49 following a 23-foot jump shot by junior guard Lonnie Davey with 2:35 remaining in this Great Northern Conference opener. Marquette answered with a 11-0 run, gaining a 60-55 advantage on a pair of free throws by senior Ford Richardson with 19 seconds left to play. Dec. 2, 1970 — Tony VanDamme scored 25 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, leading the Rock Little Giants to a 57-56 basketball triumph over the Rapid River Rockets. Tom Bailey added 11 points.
