Matt Johnson steps down, Mike Cretens named new Bay College men’s basketball coach

ESCANABA, MI – Bay College Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt Johnson has resigned his position with the Norse Basketball Program. Long-time Assistant Mike Cretens has been named his successor and will take over as head of the program immediately. Mike Cretens has been an assistant with the Bay College Men's Basketball Team for the past four seasons and helped the Norse to two Northern Conference Championships and two second place finishes in conference. Rapid River win first regional championship in three years

RAPID RIVER — Freshman Evonna LaCosse had a hand in four firsts here Wednesday, helping the Rapid River girls capture their first Division 3 regional track and field championship in three years. She took the 800-meter run in two minutes, 44.41 seconds, 1600 (6:09.02) and 3200 (13:09.51) and helped the Rockets take the 3200 relay (12:17.29). The Rockets scored 70 points and Superior Central edged Big Bay de Noc 36-32 for runner-up honors. Rapid River boys claim Skyline Conference title for the first time since 2019

FELCH — Several years had passed since the Rapid River boys were crowned conference champions. The Rockets changed that here Tuesday, earning their first Skyline Central Conference track and field title since 2019 by scoring 105 points.
