Township residents should weigh in on Master Plan

As I talk with residents of Delta County, I realize that most do not know that Delta County is upgrading their Master Plan with a total rewrite through the planning commission. Don’t get this confused with the five-year park plan that the county is completing now. Master Plans are usually written for 20-year periods with reviews every five years. Political mailers have already started arriving in the Upper Peninsula. Our household received three last week in support of a particular candidate. I was reminded by this how many people are not aware that much of the political mail they receive is not paid for by the candidate it promotes. Recently, while waiting for a table to open at our favorite restaurant, my husband and I saw something that made us both sad and concerned. On the bulletin board were two flyers, announcing fundraising events for two young people, both of whom were afflicted by very serious medical conditions.
