When ‘sanctuary’ becomes obstruction of the law
Letter to the Editor
The virulent actions in Minnesota render the traditional concept of “sanctuary” meaningless. Originally, sanctuary was for protection of vulnerable persons or populations from mob violence or unlawful pursuit. It involved religious institutions, such as churches. Sanctuary outside places of worship has never been recognized as providing protection from criminal apprehension or prosecution. Withholding persons from legitimate jurisdictions (federal) has been against U.S. law since before 1980, when large numbers of Latin Americans sought protection from war and persecution in their home countries. Admission into the U.S. was permitted upon judgement that a person’s life was in jeopardy. Admission to escape poverty was never a valid reason, especially after consideration of the millions of dollars in aid provided to these countries. Corruption and theft by high-ranking government officials, and keeping it from their citizens, was not a reason to award sanctuary.
The wholesale invasion of foreign nationals under the Biden administration allowed criminals of all rank to enter our nation. Crossing the border only let them continue their criminal activities here on American citizens. Everything from illegal entry to murder are crimes. Seeking exemption from prosecution because people were “only trying to better their lives” is absurd. All criminals are “seeking to better their lives.” Good behavior doesn’t count … even mass murderers obey traffic laws and pay their rent on time. “No one is above the law” (Nancy Pelosi).
Accepting illegal aliens on the supposition that “diversity is good for the community” has only resulted in creating ethnic ghettos and increases in gang activity. I could find no evidence that “inclusion” has had any positive effect on the relationship between law enforcement and these minority enclaves as has been proposed by liberal apologists.
Obstruction by a governor and mayor in the legal operations of ICE officials is an obvious infraction of U.S. law, which supersedes state law in this instance. Whether they are abetting paid protesters bussed in to cause mayhem (interpreted by the press as “peaceful protests”) to further a political agenda may be discovered as a result of them being considered for indictment.
Protests are being orchestrated and financed by overseas communist million/billionaires (boy … there’s a contradiction for ya) in a continued attempt to destabilize our nation and may succeed if true law and order are not respected by our elected officials. The current administration is absolutely correct in sending ICE and other Department of Justice entities to Minnesota to secure and possess criminals for prosecution and possible deportation. The press is grossly negligent in reporting the socially degrading effects of having violent illegal aliens treated as a vulnerable minority. This is an absolute abomination of the original concept of “sanctuary.” Those who truly seek protection from lethal persecution will be diminished by confusing their horrible plight with the disgusting concept of sanctuary now being abused in Minnesota. Everyone connected with the prevention of our federal officials from carrying out their legal duties should be arrested and tried.
