Township annexation

EDITOR: I can’t believe that the most important meeting for the township annexation wasn’t televised Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Perhaps for the public to ignore it? The attorney for the application claimed that “it was not an annexation.” What? His application is one and the same. It was publicized everywhere as an annexation. See Michigan law. He said a conflict of interest was “legally impossible.” What? If that one commissioner didn’t have a huge financial interest in the annexation, would he have fought that hard? I doubt it. Road repairs

EDITOR: In Pennsylvania, a portion of highway, a very busy highway, collapsed after a truck fire or causing a fire, whatever the cause. 12 days later, that road has been re-built and re-opened. So, it is only a “temporary” repair. It looks pretty good to me. In Florida, a hurricane took out a bridge to Sanibel Island. 30 days later, the bridge had been re-built and re-opened. Escanaba, Michigan. Stephenson Avenue was torn up in the early summer of 2022. It is now summer of 2023. Still torn up. In fact, it looks like they are preparing to tear up more of the street. EDITOR: I just read George Franks’ fantasy article on the opinion page, Monday, June 12. It is understood that he believes in things that go against everything I believe. He praises CNN and CBS for their great reporting. That’s incredible. I’ll let most of the junk go but I cannot stay silent on his last point. He states that in Alabama, George Wallace stopped Blacks from going to the University of Alabama because he didn’t want Blacks there. Everyone agrees that Wallace was wrong. EDITOR: Commissioner Moyle stated in commissioner comments at the June 6, 2023 county board of commissioners meeting that he visited the Delta County Airport on February 23, 2023 to see about getting larger jets and that he asked “Delta” what can we do? How can we show you that we like you? Except that commissioner Moyle did not meet with Delta. He met with the manager of a sub-contracted ground handling company called Unifi. Sanctuary status

EDITOR: I attended the Delta County Commission meeting on June 6th primarily to give testimony regarding a vote on sanctuary status for the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Two gentlemen, both veterans and firearm owners, expressed concern that other issues may deserve the time instead of this. I wish to thank them for their service and willingness to speak on this issue. Delta County Board meeting

EDITOR: During last night’s county commission meeting while discussing the gun sanctuary proposal Commissioner Barron went off on a tangent about mental health treatment and how it’s nothing more than a government entity that is only interested in money to keep itself going. Commissioner Barron then went on to state that we are worse of than before we started treating people who need mental health services.
