Buchholtz honored by Turkey Federation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ken Buchholtz of Ecanaba has earned the Wheelin’ Sportsmen Volunteer of the Year Award from the National Wild Turkey Federation.

“I feel incredibly honored to be receiving this award that represents all the time and effort our team of volunteers put into this program, developing it to what it is today,” Bucholtz said. “This program means the world to me. There is nothing better than getting people back out in the great outdoors doing what they enjoy most. The word ‘can’t’ is not in our vocabulary; if there is a ‘wheel’ there is a way, and the smile makes it all the worthwhile.”

Buchholtz accepted the Wheelin’ Sportsmen Volunteer of the Year Award during the 44th annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show.

Due to the lack of accessibility for individuals with impairments, Buchholtz has worked tirelessly to develop the Wheelin’ Sportsmen program in the local area.

“Ken’s selflessness and willingness to go above and beyond stands as the embodiment of an NWTF volunteer,” NWTF CEO Becky Humphries said. “Ken’s desire to provide hunting opportunities and share the outdoors with anyone who shows interest has pushed the Wheelin’ Sportsmen program to new heights, and we are incredibly proud that he is part of the NWTF.”

The NWTF Wheelin’ Sportsmen program provides all people with disabilities opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. NWTF chapters host Wheelin’ Sportsmen events across North America to help participants gain a sense of independence by learning to stay active in the outdoors.
