Rockets take down Wolverines in conference action
RAPID RIVER- The Rapid River Rockets had a steady battle against the visiting Mid Peninsula Wolveriens, earning the win with a final score of 55-43 on Friday, February 13th.
The game started with a lot of back-and-forth action as both teams were competing for possession, but Rapid had a quick spark in the first quarter, scoring an overall 22 points, 15 of which came from the three-point line. Defense was the main factor throughout this first half as the Wolverines were held by the Rockets from putting up many far shots, achieving 10 points for both the first and second quarters. By halftime, the Rockets were up by 18 points, 38-20.
In the second half, Mid Pen came out stronger, scoring 16 in the third while Rapid was only able to score nine. With this strong quarter, the Wolverines were able to shorten that 18 point gap down to 11.
The fourth quarter was seemingly long and a hard defensive match as there wasn’t much scoring going on. By the end of the quarter, there were eight points for Rapid and 7 points for Mid Pen.
