Escanaba rolls past Wildcats improves to 7-1

ESCANABA — It was another big night on the gridiron for the Escanaba Eskymos as they defeated the Alpena Wildcats 39-6 in a Big North Conference football game here Friday,
The Eskymos got on the board first on a one-yard touchdown run by junior Brody Ison to put the Eskymos up 6-0. Graham Johnson caught two TD passes from Noplan Bink in the second quarter. The second one coming with 4:52 to go in the half to estend the Eskymos lead to 20-0.
With just second to go in the first half Nolan Bink connected with senior Alex Stalboeger to put the Eskymos up 27-0 at the half. Bink finished the night with three TD passes.
“We played very well at times in the game,” Eskymos coach Baily Lamb said. “We were able to get our young guys some snaps and quality in game reps.”
Alpen drove down the field on the first drive of the third quarter scoring on a 54-yard TD pass by Andrew Szymoniak to cut the deficit to 27-6.
With 7:12 to go in the third quarter Brody Levesque caught an 18-yard TD pass for his first of the season extending the lead to 33-6.
The Eskymos return to action Friday as they host Gladstone in the Battle of the Bay.
“We are taking it one day at a time,” Lamb said. “Our boys are confident and it’s a big rivalry game and our last regular season game and I know the kids will be ready.”
