SPALDING — It was a tough night on the court for the North Central Jets as it fell to Crystal Falls Forest Park in straight sets, (25-6, 25-8, 25-7) in a Skyline Central Conference volleyball match here Thursday.

The Trojans dominated in every area as senior Elsie Williams had a team high seven kills and junior Vienna Price led the team with five aces.

The Trojans jumped out to an early 6-1 lead on an ace by sophomore Harper Anderson.

The Jets rolled off four of the next six points before the Trojans went on an eight-point serving run to extend the lead to 17-5. After a serving error against the Jets, Forest Park went on a seven-point scoring run to end the first set.

“We have been struggling with starting off strong and taking our foot off the gas,” Trojans coach Bobbie Jo Anderson said. “I think we did a better job of that tonight and played up to our ability but we do need to improve on our free balls by making good passes to set up our offense.”

The Jets opened the second set taking a 2-0 lead on a pair of aces by junior Mylie Luedtke.

“It was everything we expected from Forest Park,” Jets coach Rick Mick said. “Regardless of what the score shows, I think we did a good job of competing at points during the match tonight. We have players that can play this game with most of them coming up from JV. We are still fighting with getting them to believe in themselves once we turn that corner and get them believing in their game. That is where you will see results.”

The Trojans were leading 6-5 when they went on an eight point scoring run including four aces by Price during the run extending the lead to 15-5.

“I was just thinking about getting them over and in,” Price said. “And then work to find the holes in the defense.

The Trojans scored 18 of the last 21 points in the second set.

The Trojans made quick work of the third set, Williams had three of her seven kills in the third set and the Trojans as a team had nine kills in the third set.

“We wanted to come in and take care of business right away,” Williams said. “We wanted to start hot and keep the momentum through all the sets.”

The Jets will face Forest Park again Thursday on the road.

Starting at $3.50/week.
