Manninen wins big on Father’s Day

ESCANABA — Weekend rain pushed the start time back one hour but couldn’t stop the Escanaba Motor Speedway from putting on another exciting night of racing.

On top of all it was Father’s Day and for Ethan Manninen it was a very special night as he came away with the feature win after coming from fifth on the grid to take his second feature win of the 2025 season. Manninen also won the heat race.

“That’s all my dad wanted for Fathers Day,” Manninen said. “He has been working out of town and he said he wanted me to win the feature on Father’s Day. I did it for him, and it felt really good.”

Logan Getzloff came in second and Bentley Richer finished third. Brayden Lundquist and Griffin Iverson rounded out the top five.

In the vintage modifieds, Abi Yelle picked up the feature win. Charles Peterson came in second and won his heat race and Ron Anderson finished third and won the other heat race. Tom Dubord and Richard Lantagne rounded out the top five.

In the youth micro sprints, Tanner Rae found his way back to victory lane as he picked up the heat and feature sweep. Wyatt Ammel finished second and Amelia Hart came in third. Keagan Jensen and Abbie Lantagne rounded out the top five.

In the sportsman sprints, Chase Richer picked up the sweep winning the heat and feature races. Braxton Lundquist finished second and won his heat race. Tanner Hansen finished third and Kristy Karl and Nathan Viau rounded out the top five.

In the super modified class, Drake Degnan picked up his first feature win of the 2025 season. Gunnar Hansen came in second and won the heat race. Scott Degnan came in third and Jessie Denome and Paul Hosking rounded out the top five.

In the sport modifieds, Evin Gagne picked up the sweep taking the heat and feature races. Gagne came from sixth on the starting grid to get the win. Matt Valiquette finished second coming from ninth on the starting grid and Bradley Seppanen came in third after starting eighth on the grid. Anthony Harper and Jesse Denome rounded out the top five.

In the street stocks, Carter Koth led all the feature laps except one and it was the big one. Koth spun out in turn four of the feature and Brayden Lundquist capitalized for his second feature win of the season. Paul Wagner came in second and tony Begovac finished third. Eric Mathieson and Cody Turner rounded out the top five. Koth and Ben Buckland won the heat races.

In the sport compacts Brian VanDresse picked up the heat and feature sweep. Dominick Lantagne came from fifth on the grid to finish second and Maci Lantagne was third. Dylan Lanaville and Ron Borchert rounded out the top five.

Escanaba Motor Speedway returns to action June 28 for the Christian Groleau Memorial Race. Gates open at 5 p.m. and green flag drops at 7 p.m.
