ESCANABA — He’s only a sophomore, and he’s All State.
Escanaba catcher Mikaiden Hughes has been named First Team All-State by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association.
In his first full season behind the plate Hughes hit .404 with 42 hits, 14 doubles, a triple and 25 RBIs. He drew 13 walks and struck out 16 times while owning a .475 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .558. Defensively, Hughes had a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 while recording 249 putouts.
