Coolman makes history, No. 5 Eskymos earns regular season sweep over No. 3 Marquette

MARQUETTE –A win itself is enough to celebrate. A win in the Great Northern Conference is also a pretty good reason to celebrate.

Escanaba volleyball was able to do both with a 25-17, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17 GNC road win over Marquette on Tuesday.

But there was an extra bonus added to the Eskymos’ 17th win of the season. Junior libero Harlee Coolman earned her 1,000th career dig in the win.

The junior amassed 38 digs to go with an ace on Tuesday. Foreign exchange student Bet Montal paced the Eskymos with 11 kills to go with an assist, a block and a dig.

Junior Chloe Dubord added a dig and a helper. Senior Clara Braun earned a team-leading 17 helpers to with nine digs and an ace, Senior Katey Lamb tallied 13 digs and six kills. Senior Sophie Lehto contributed three digs, two kills and a helper. Senior Lily Nelson added six kills, three aces, three digs and a helper. Junior Susie Moberg earned eight kills. Junior Mary Kate Tourangeau had 14 assists, six digs, three aces and a kill. Sophomore Brooklyn Beauchamp added a kill. Junior Breleigh Reinhart added a dig. Senior Grayson LaMarche added seven digs, six kills and four aces. Junior Ava Stalboerger had three digs, two aces, a kill and an assist.

The Eskymos close out the regular season with a road match at 7 p.m. Thursday in Manistique before beginning district play at 7 p.m. Monday against Gladstone in Gladstone.
