ESCANABA — While the race for track championships is over, Escanaba Speedway has one last event for its 2024 season.

The fourth-annual Yooper Fall Classic is set to take place this weekend with action starting at 7 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday.

Griffin Iverson, Matt Maki IV, Logan Getzloff and Tombo Waselesky, who all had preparation opportunities during Monday’s practice session, all look to repeat as Yooper Fall Classic champions this weekend. And any sort of preparation is needed for this event, especially with the amount of cash on the line.

The action starts Friday night with youth sprints racing for a first-place purse of $200.

The 600 sprints will also be in action and have their wings on in a race for the first-place prize of $300 to win. The super modifieds will race for the opportunity to $500. The sport modifieds will run double heats Friday night for passing points to determine qualifying spots. The top 10 in passing points will lock into the dash for cash race and will depend on the amount of entries for the feature.

There will also be powderpuff and mechanics races to closeout the action on Friday night.

Saturday night’s action includes the 600 sprints racing with their wings off with $300 awarded to the winner. The sport compacts division will also race for a first-place prize of $300 and street stocks will race for $500. The exhibition vintage class will be in action on Saturday night, and the sport modified class will run their last chance qualifiers and the big $2,400 to win feature. Saturday’s action also concludes with powderpuff and mechanics races on Saturday night.

Starting at $2.99/week.
