Escanaba girls tennis knocks off Marquette

ESCANABA — After rain hindered their first matchup, Escanaba and Marquette finally collided in girls tennis.

The Eskymos kept rolling, emerging victorious in all four singles matches and winning three of four doubles contests.

Olivia Vogel was swapped in to team with Danni Hughes in No. 2 doubles. The tandem didn’t skip a beat, besting Marquette’s tandem of Maya Griffin and Eva Kentala 6-2, 6-2.

“(Vogel) has been working hard in practice,” Esky coach Chris Ogren said. “It was nice to be able to get her into the varsity lineup today and see that hard work pay off.”
