NORWAY – The third Annual Jerry Schneider Memorial Race will be held at 7 p.m. Friday night. This year’s race will have a little bit of a different wrinkle as the Pete’s Auto 0.25 Mile Late Model Series: Race to Michigan 28 will be traveling up from Wisconsin International Raceway/Fox River Racing Club to run the 28-lap feature.
Jerry Schneider ran the familiar No. 28 throughout his career in the sport. He devoted his life to racing. One of Jerry’s final events as a driver happened to be at Norway Speedway in 2021. This event is going to be special for many Norway Speedway fans as it marks the return of one of Norway’s greatest and future Hall of Famer Mike Reichenberger of Appleton, WI.
Reichenberger’s racing career spans an amazing 45 years with stops at Norway Speedway for many of them. In 2007 & 2011 Mike was the Coca-Cola Late Model Track Champion of Norway Speedway and he also won the most coveted race The Stateline Challenge in 2007. He will be a heavy favorite for his homecoming this Friday night. A formidable opponent for Reichenberger will be the Pete’s 0.25 Mile Late Model Series is point leader Tim Baumann from Neenah, WI. Baumann who is a former standout snowmobile racer has jumped over to late model stock car racing and was one spot shy of taking his 1st clean sweep last week at Wisconsin International Raceway.
Other Wisconsin International Raceway standouts making the trip are racing legend Rick Spoo and 2024 Norway Speedway Stateline Challenge qualifiers Henry Neerdaels, and Ty Fietzer, as well as veteran Don Dix who also has Norway Speedway racing experience. The Speedway is expecting 15-20 cars across the board in all divisions to come up to race in Jerry Schneider’s honor. Camping is available. For additional information call or message (906) 361-0597.
