Gladstone’s Beauchamp claims Sportsman SxS win at Off-Road Rumble

BARK RIVER — Bark River’s Zack Wirhanowicz emerged victorious in the Sportsman SxS class on day one of the 2024 Off Road Rumble in the U.P. at Bark River International Raceway Friday.

Sunday’s finale also saw a U.P. winner in the Sportsman SxS class. This time it was Gladstone’s own Bryce Carlson taking the win. Wirhanowicz finished seventh on Sunday with Ishpeming’s Carter Crook claiming eighth place and Spalding’s Josh Stenberg finishing 19th.

Two U.P. racers competed in the 170 SxS class on Sunday. Menominee’s Lainey Gearhart finished 12th and Baraga’s Weston Brunk finished 20th.

Sunday’s 1600 Light Buggy race also saw two U.P. competitors in the field. Marquette’s Adam Heikkila finished 10th and Bark River’s Allison Wandahsega finished 18th.

Four U.P. racers battled in the 1600 Single Buggy class. Gwinn’s James Thompson finished 18th, Gladstone’s Kendra Hayward finished 13th and Menominee racers Jeff Sakovits and Lance Gearhart finished 12th and 17th respectively.

A tandem of U.P. racers earned top 10 finishes in the Stock Truck class. Rapid River’s Zachary Wennesheimer finished seventh and Wilson’s Kyle Jenshak finished eighth.

A trio of U.P. competitors also earned top 10 finishes in the Super Stock Truck class. Gladstone’s Braden Beauchamp reached the podium with a third place finish, Marquette’s Scott Heikkila finished fifth and Kingsford’s Brad Barglind finished ninth.

Bark River was represented by two drivers in the Pro Am SxS class. Paige Wirhanowicz finished 15th and Benjamin Heiting finished sixth.

In Pro Spec action, Felch’s Porter Inglese finished fourth. Wyatt Miller, the 12 year old grandson of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, finished second.

Champion’s Matt Wood reached the podium in the Pro Lite class, but was forced to settle for second. Felch’s Antonio Inglese finished ninth.
