Yelle, Degnan, Mathieson earn wins

ESCANABA — There were 89 cars registered for action at the Christian Groleau Memorial Race on Saturday.
In the exhibition vintage class it was Abi Yelle picking up the feature win. Second place went to Terry Royer, third spot went to Ron Anderson and Derek LeBresh and Matt Valiquette rounded out the top five. Anderson picked up the win in heat race action.
In The super modified class it was Scott Degnan picking up his fifth feature win of the season. Rick Ness finished second while Jesse Denome came in third and Abi Yelle came in fourth and Jerry Hansen came in fifth. Degnan also picked up the heat race win.
In the youth micro sprints Nathan Winling Jr. picked up the feature win. Second place went to Julia Maki. Wyatt Ammel finished third while Carson Wagner and Lilah Wagner rounded out the top five. Finn Bower won the heat race and was charging through the field in the feature, but had his car flip on the final lap of race.
In the sportsman micro sprints Braxton Lundquist picked up his third feature win and extended his points lead to four over Griffin Iverson, who finished third in the feature and won a heat race. Chase Richer finished second and Kristy Karl came in fourth and won a heat race. Macy Degnan rounded out the top five.
In the 600cc sprints class it was Kevin Warm making the pass with two laps remaining to pick up his first feature win of the season. Ethan Manninen finished second and won a heat race. Logan Getzloff came home third and also won a heat race. Chase Richer and Robert Buttry rounded out the top five.
In the sport modified class Lance Salo came home with his first feature win. Matt Maki IV came in second after starting tenth on the feature grid and picked up a heat win. Jeff Solomon finished third and also won a heat race. Jesse Denome and Bradley Seppanen rounded out the top five. Kyle Johnson won the other heat race on the night.
In the sport compacts class first time visitor Calvin Stueck picked up the heat and feature sweep. Tombo Waselesky came in second and won a heat race. Shawn Harry came in third and Dominick Lantagne and Andrew Vandrese rounded out the top five.
In the street stocks Eric Mathieson picked up the feature win. Jimmy Reath finished second. Jeremy Sebeck finished third and won his heat race and Paul Wagner and Qwentin Johnson rounded out the top five. Jason Piron picked up a heat win but did not finish the feature race.
