Escanaba softballs sweeps Kingsford

KINGSFORD — Fresh off winning two of three down state, Escanaba softball kept rolling with a pair of 11-1 wins over Kingsford on Tuesday.

Here’s what went down:

Game one

Esky jumped ahead early thanks to the long ball. Anna Boutilier blasted a solo shot and Carly Bowden blasted a home run of the two-run variety in the first inning. With a RBI single from Katey Lamb mixed in, the Eskymos lead 4-0 after one.

Esky added five runs in the second off RBI singles from Boutilier and Harlee Coolman, a passed ball, a dropped third strike and Chloe Dubord’s theft of home plate to lead 9-0.

Maddy Mott, similar to her previous two starts, slammed the door shut, allowing one earned run off four hots with two walks and nine strikeouts in the win. Boutilier finished 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Coolman finished 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs scored and a RBI. McKenzie Engebretson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Lamb finished 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a RBI. Carly McInerney stole two bases. Braun swiped one.

Game two

Esky ended Tuesday’s doubleheader early with an explosive fifth inning. Dubord, Emma Wisler and Addison Noblet all earned RBI singles to lead 9-1. Then Boutilier delivered a two-run home run to right field for an 11-1 lead.

Noblet was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI. Lamb finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI. Dubord finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a RBI. Coolman went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs scored and a RBI.

Landry Bray earned the win in the circle, allowing one earned run off three hits with one walks and 10 strikeouts in five innings of work.
