Superior Central softball sweeps Stephenson

STEPHENSON — A strong, windy day did not stop Superior Central softball as it won a pair of games 17-4 and 20-2 over Stephenson.

The Cougars were walked several times and most of their runs were unearned in the first game. The highlight of the first game was a bases loaded triple by senior Josie Hemminger. Sammy Johnson pitched three innings allowing only one run and striking out six.

In the second game the Cougars scored 20 runs on 10 hits. Hope Brunngraeber had two hits and three RBIs and Sammy Johnson had two hits of her own that brought in two runs.

Johnson pitched three innings and retired all nine batters with six coming by strikeout.
