ESCANABA –Softball season is in full swing (pun definitely intended) in Michigan. Here’s how area teams did this week:

Tuesday’s games

Bark River-Harris 7, Norway 4

The Broncos earned their first win of the season in the first leg of a doubleheader over the Knights.

Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the sixth, BR-H got its first seven batters on base. Stella Rebitzke scored on a Norway error to tie the game at 3.

With the bases loaded, Faith Javurek blooped the first pitch of the at-bat on the grass in right field for a two-run single and a 5-3 lead.

On the first pitch of her ensuing at-bat, Aubrey Gagnon belted a double to centerfield, driving in two more runs for a 7-3 lead.

The Knights scratched across one run in the seventh, but the Broncos slammed the door shut for the win. Abbie Ingersoll went the distance, allowing four earned runs off nine hits, walked two and struck out three. Taylor Klee and Ella Gonzales each finished 3-for-4 with the former scoring three times and the latter driving in a run.

Game two of the twinbill saw the Knights jump to a 4-0 lead after one and never look back.

Wednesday’s action
