Gladstone Braves Boys Golf Invitational kicks off 2024 season

GLADSTONE –The 2024 golf season officially started on Monday with the Gladstone Braves Boys Golf Invitational.

This event pitted 10 teams in a best ball format tournament. Schools had teams of two golfers compete together. Whoever had the best score on a particular hole was the score the team took.

Marquette’s Kaleb Chiplewski and Jack Pond took first places with a score of 68. Negaunee’s Cole Karki and Dane Saari finished second (69). Marquette’s Easton Aho and Boden Moore finished third (72), Kingsford’s Nick Doran and Lanch Harry (73) finished fourth and Negaunee’s Holden Meyer and Kody Baer (74) rounded off the top five.

Marquette took first as a team, with its top 3 scores sitting at a combined score of 215. Negaunee finished second with 222. Manistique (223) placed third, Escanaba (241) claimed fourth and Gladstone (248) took fifth.

Kingsford (254) finished sixth, Munising (257) and Menominee (257) tied for seventh place. Ishpeming Westwood (274) finished ninth and Hannahville (359) finished 10th.
