The Norse played host to Mid-Michigan College for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.

Here’s what went down:

Bay struck early and often in Friday’s finale. Zach Gibson drove in a run off a Lakers’ miscue, and Cooper struck with a two-run home run to make it 3-0 after the first inning. The lead ballooned to 5-0 after two thanks to an RBI triple from Darmogray and RBI double from Gomersall.

With the lead trimmed to 5-2 midway through four, the Norse rallied for insurance runs with two outs. Josh Blake blooped a 1-0 pitch into right field for a base hit. Eight pitches later Gibson struck again, this time with a two-run home run for a 7-2 lead.

Gibson and Cooper earned two RBI each. Darmogray, Gomersall and Blake earned two hits each.

Cooper earned the win, allowing three earned runs off five hits while fanning 10 batters in six innings of action. Franco allowed two earned runs off three hits in one inning of relief.

Bay jumped to an early 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI poke from Cooper. But the Lakers had a response and capitalized on four Bay errors, baffling behind 6-2 after three innings.

Blake connected on a two-run single to cut the deficit in half, but the Lakers tacked on three runs in the sixth to seal the win.

Blake finished 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. Gomersall finished 2-for-4 and scored twice. Gibson, Cooper, Darmogray and Aeden Creten each added a base hit.

The Lakers responded by tacking on eight runs in the bottom half of the fifth and added one more in the sixth to seal the win.
