Mid Pen earns 3-1 win over Superior Central

EBEN — After two close opening sets, the Mid Peninsula Wolverines earned a 3-1 (26-24, 26-24, 16-25, 25-19) win over the Superior Central Cougars Tuesday night in Eben.

“Overall, it was another nice team effort,” said Wolverines coach Emily Kayser. “It was a hard-fought game on both ends.”

After winning the first two sets, however, things fell a bit of the tracks for Mid Pen in set three.

“That third set we just came out a little flat,” said Kayser. “Once we overcame all that, things started to work better for us.”

Kora Prater (24 digs) and Shae Lampinen (20 digs) — whose performance Kayser noted along with Avery Croasdell at the net — held things down defensively for the Wolverines.

Prater also had eight aces for the team while Maddie VanDamme led in assists with 11.

Landry Koski had 12 kills and five blocks, too.

In the JV match, the Cougars took the win 2-0.

Mid Pen plays the Rapid River Rockets Thursday while Superior Central is in Carney tonight for a makeup match against the Wolves.
