Local teams show

up for Cabela’s

AUSABLE, MICH. — Sixteen local anglers are competing this week as part of the Cabela’s 2021 National Team Championship in Ausable.

After the first day of competition (Thursday), the teams of Ben Spriks (Wells) & Bryant Dault (Escanaba), Patt Cassidy (Rapid River) & Bryan Anderson (Wells) and Cornell’s Jerry Plourde & Andrew Miron were placed 23, 30 and 33 respectively.

The top 25 finishers after Friday will move on to compete Saturday.

Also in the top 100 were the teams of Escanaba’s Don Almenti & Steve Martin in 74 and Escanaba’s Kyle Eastman & Nick Kallio in 78.

Other teams with local participants competing include Andy Miron & Gordon Stone of Gladstone in 136, Ethan Schetter (Carney) & Brian McDonald (Wadesworth, Ill.) in 147, Shannon Larson (Rice Lake, Wis.) & Ross Neubauer (Iron Mountain) in 181 and Glenn Chenier (Gladstone) & Spencer Murray (Escanaba) in 188.
