Bay softball picks up 9-1 win
TITUSVILLE, Fla. — In the last game of its Florida trip, the Bay College softball team skipped past the Chesapeake Skip Jacks 9-1 Friday morning.
Chesapeake took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Jozie Wilson scored on a double from Brea Bishop.
The Norse answered in the bottom half of the inning as Kaitlyn Hardwick scored on a double to left field by Madison Griffin.
Bay then took the lead in the second when Morgan Letteriello singled, made it to second on a sacrifice fly from Beth Gannigan and then scored on a passed ball.
The Norse added to their lead in the fourth when Heather Bergstrom scored on an error, and Eden Oswald scored on a sacrifice fly by Griffin.
Bay then blew the game open with five runs in the sixth.
Hardwick led the way at the plate by going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. Griffin and Bergstrom both had two RBIs.
Oswald pitched a complete game for the win, striking out 10 and only giving up three hits.
The Norse (7-7) finished their Florida trip with a 6-6 record.
The NJCAA has suspended all competition starting today and running through at least April 3 in response to COVID-19.
