Jets’ girls hold off Rockets

POWERS — The North Central girls held on for a 46-38 home win over Rapid River Thursday night in a Skyline Central Conference basketball contest.

The Jets (11-6, 11-5 SCC) led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter and 26-19 at halftime.

“We were inconsistent,” Jets coach Lee Vincent said. “We played well, and then we played bad. Missing Andie Arsenault (flu) doesn’t help.”

The Rockets (5-12, 5-10 SCC) kept it close in the second half but couldn’t get over the hump.

“Our team really worked together well tonight,” Rockets coach Scott Goodacre said. “It was nice to see after our last game (48-18 loss against Forest Park Tuesday). Everyone is getting involved, and we were able to work on some things we needed to give North Central a run for its money.”

Alex Neville finished with 11 points for the Jets. Jaiden Fleetwood pulled down a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

“Jaiden hurt her ankle but came back in and scored some points for us,” Vincent said. “She also had 10 rebounds, and she played a heck of a game.”

The Rockets were led by Kristin Goodacre with 13 points. Natalie Belanger chipped in 12.

North Central, which won the JV game, visits Bark River-Harris Monday. Rapid River travels to fifth-ranked North Dickinson Monday.
