Bay men, women sweep

CHICAGO — The Bay College basketball teams doubled their pleasure here Friday night by sweeping a pair of games from Malcolm X (Richard J. Daley) College.

Bay’s women posted a 68-36 victory and the men took a 72-66 decision.

Haley Trudell led the Bay women with 12 points, four steals and three assists and Kaitlyn Hardwick had 11 points, eight rebounds and four steals.

The Norse (16-10) hit 27-of-68 field goals and 9-of-10 free throws. They also held a 43-37 rebounding advantage and committed 23 turnovers. Their hosts were 13-of-48 from the field and had 37 miscues.

Jessica Congress scored 20 points to go with 10 boards and Jada McCurdy added 12 points, seven steals and five assists for Malcolm X (14-9).

The Bay men won despite 30 turnovers.

Christian Alexander paced Norse (18-9) with 20 points and 17 rebounds. Matt Wagner hit 17 points.

Amiri Young tossed in 27 points. Jalen Frizell collected 18 points and five steals and Lamont Wilson had 14 points for Daley (12-15).

The Norse held a 50-36 rebounding advantage, sank 25-of-56 field goals and all 17 free throws. Daley was 24-of-78 from the floor and had 19 miscues.

Bay visits Harry S. Truman College this afternoon.
