Nordics extinguish Jets at home

POWERS — Things fell apart in the second half for the North Central girls in a 55-35 Skyline Central Conference basketball loss to North Dickinson Friday in Powers.

The Jets (4-3, 4-2 SC) led 21-19 at halftime before the Nordics went on a tear in the second half, outscoring the Jets 36-14.

“We did pretty good in the first half, but in the second half we didn’t play as a team, and when you shoot 18% you’re going to lose,” Jets’ coach Lee Vincent said. “We were out of sync and rushed a lot of shots.

“It was a pretty rough game, so we need to regroup.”

Jaiden Fleetwood and Andie Arsenault led the Jets with 12 points each.

Ashton Hord led the Nordics (7-1, 5-0 SC) with 19 points. Briana Smith added 11, while Skye Ledzian chipped in 10.

“Ashton Hord played really good for them,” Vincent said.

The Jets, who won the jayvee game, visit Norway Thursday.
