Esky bowlers win

ISHPEMING — The Escanaba bowling team had a clean sweep Saturday in Ishpeming, with all four teams winning.

The boys team defeated Marquette 39-1 to improve to 3-2. The Eskymos were led by Josh Worthen with games of 226, 216 and 193 for a 635 series. Hunter Lancour rolled games of 223, 182 and 226 for a 631 series.

The boys B team defeated Iron Mountain’s X team 35-5 to improve to 5-0. Tyler Teal led the Eskymos with a 213 game and 524 series.

The girls improved to 4-1 with a 25-15 win over Iron Mountain. Dakota Cloutier rolled a 215 game and 533 series.

The mixed team picked up its first victory of the season with a 38-2 win over Westwood’s X team. Eastin Young rolled a 204 game and 548 series, followed by Matt Cordy with a 201 game and 529 series.

Escanaba heads to Laurium Saturday to take on Iron Mountain.

Braves’ bowlers win

ISHPEMING — The Gladstone boys’ bowlers picked up a 29-11 victory over Westwood here Saturday, winning both baker games and two of three match play games.

The Braves won the baker games 167-112 and 102-72. They won the match play games 608-576 and 659-530 while also falling 696-656.

Junior Andy Fisher led the Braves with a 188 game and a 464 series, winning two of his match play games. Chad Britton had a 419 series, while Ryan Neumann and Dylan Messina both won two of their three games. Sophomore Darren Albrecht also rolled a 141 game.

C-N grid fundraiser

CARNEY — The Fifth Annual Carney-Nadeau football fundraiser takes place Feb. 1 from 4-8 p.m. CST at American Legion Post 487.

Tickets, which cost $15, can be purchased from the players, at the school or at the door. There will be prize drawings. Extra meal tickets will be available at the door.
