Black Bears split with Hannahville

GARDEN CORNERS — The Big Bay de Noc basketball teams hosted the Hannahville Soaring Eagles Tuesday and split the decisions in the Northern Lights League contests.

The Black Bears girls routed the Soaring Eagles 57-9.

Big Bay came out strong, scoring 22 points in the first quarter thanks to 12 from Alix Bleau.

The Black Bears added 18 more in the second and coasted through the rest of the game.

Bleau scored 16 points to lead Big Bay, while Meagan Yonker notched 15 points, six assists and four steals. Camryn Pederson finished with four points and five steals, while Gracynn Durrance scored four points and grabbed 10 boards.

Char Sagataw led Hannahville with four points.

The boys’ game mirrored the girls with the Soaring Eagles taking control of the court to win 61-14.

The Soaring Eagles built an impressive cushion in the first half, leading 50-4 at halftime.

Hannahville cruised to a win with just 11 points in the second half.

Gage Sagataw led the Soaring Eagles with 27 points. Joe Larson followed with 16.

Riley Harvey and Joel Gillespie notched four points apiece for the Black Bears.
