C-N rolls past Munising

MUNISING — The Carney-Nadeau volleyball team made quick of the Munising Mustangs in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-11) victory here Tuesday.

The Wolves took a moment to find their feet in the first set but quickly gained momentum after a 25-16 win.

“We played one of our more clean matches,” Wolves’ coach Steve Kedsch said.

“Our serving tonight was on. We only missed three serves as a team. I thought we did a really good job controlling the ball, which led to some real nice hits from my big hitters.”

The second set was controlled by Carney’s Sandra Boulton, who had a nine-point service run in a 25-12 win.

“Boulton had a nice run tonight in the second set,” Kedsch said.

The Wolves then limited the Mustangs to just 11 points in the final set.

“Jules Thoune’s serving was really great tonight,” Kedsch said. “She had a shoulder injury. That seems to be better at this point, so that was good.”

Carney, which won the jayvee match 2-1, travels to Escanaba Saturday for the Elks Invitational.
