Rapid River volleyball picks up first win

NORWAY — The Rapid River volleyball team picked up its first win of the season here Tuesday, edging Skyline Central Conference opponent Norway 3-1 (25-14, 21-25, 26-24, 25-23).

“Our girls stuck with it and they kept fighting,” Rockets’ coach Kristy Kerstner said. “After the first match Norway really gave us a run, but we stuck with it and kept fighting.”

Kristin Goodacre led the Rockets (1-3) with 16 kills. Gabby Moss added eight and Myah Pearson had three.

“(Kristin) really adjusted well to all of the sets,” Kerstner said. “She had some really awesome back row kills, too.”

The Rockets, who won the jayvee contest 2-0, host Carney-Nadeau Thursday.
