Senior scramble

at Sweetgrass

HARRIS — Steve Douglas of Terrace Bluff and Larry Bratonia of Gladstone shot 64 for medalist honors in the age 50-64 division in the senior two-man scramble tournament Tuesday at Sweetgrass Golf Club.

Scott Neurohr of Nahma and Rick LaFleur of Terrace Bluff were runners-up at 65, edging Dale Immel of Munising and Kenn Depew of Newberry on a tiebreaker.

Bob McCarthy and Mark Brunswick of Iron River were crowned 65 and over champs at 70.

Keith Nelson and Mark Aubrey of Peshtigo, Wis. hit 71, edging Randy Dixon and Fred Funk of Norway Oak Crest on a tiebreaker.

Esky basketball

ESCANABA — The Escanaba seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams each picked up a win over Bark River-Harris here Tuesday. The seventh graders won 60-13 and the eighth graders won 53-29.

Grayson LaMarche led the seventh graders with 26 points and McKenzie Engebretson added 10.

Keira Maki led the eighth graders with 30 points and Saylor Henderson chipped in with 13. Mckenzie Hoffmeyer hit eight points for BR-H.

Esky visits Kingsford Thursday.

Bayside soccer

ESCANABA — Goalkeeper Harrison Anthos only faced three shots, but he made sure to keep each one of them out of his net as Marquette blanked the Bayside club team 3-0 in Escanaba on Tuesday.

Trevor Salmon scored the only goal of the first half off a pass from Joe Lagrou.

In the second half, Nick Lindberg made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal before Julian Greason closed out the scoring with a goal coming off a Mack Vezina corner kick.

Marquette (6-4) travels to Gaylord on Saturday.

Gladstone women

GLADSTONE — Lori Shea shot a 41 to lead the Gladstone Women’s League Tuesday. She was followed by Holly Canull 44, Mary Kallio and Karen McCorkle 45, Wendy Bratonia 47, Morgan Whitehead and Cheryl Dykes 48, and Sara Lustick and Vickie Isaacson 49.
