Esky softball tickets

EAST LANSING — The Escanaba softball team advanced to the state semifinals at Michigan State University Thursday, where it faces North Branch at 12:30 p.m.

For anyone attending, parking costs $5 and game tickets are $8. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online at gofan.co/app/school/MHSAA.

Carney basketball

CARNEY — The Carney-Nadeau Summer Basketball League got underway Monday night with three games.

In the opener, Jake and The Boys defeated Carney 76-65. Preston Lauscher led Jake and The Boys with 20 points and Jason Kirschner added 12. Brett LaFord led all scorers with 28 for Carney and Mike Flanagan chipped in with 12.

Juiced Apparel won the second game 99-84 over 3’s Company. Joe Pontbriand led Juiced Apparel with 37 points and Mike Polfus had 20. Joe Gibbs led 3’s Company with 22 and CJ Barron added 20.

In the nightcap, R Place took down Spindler Financial 98-88. Dawson Bilski led R Place with 36 points and Jason Whitens added 31. Brad Spindler led Spindler Financial with 24 and Logan Hardwick chipped in with 23.

Honor Flight

golf scramble

GLADSTONE — The Terrace Bluff Golf Club is holding its second annual Doc Hirn four-person golf scramble to benefit the U.P. Honor Flight Saturday, June 29.

Golf starts at noon with a shotgun start. The 18-hole event includes grilled food, refreshments, beer, raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, cash flight prizes and events on the course.

Entry fee is $65 per person. Tickets can also be purchased for the 2019 Yamaha Cart giveaway. Call the bluff (906-428-2343) to enter.

Gladstone men

GLADSTONE — Steve Bratonia shot a 71 in the Gladstone 18-hole Men’s League Monday. Bratonia was followed by Kim Clous and Bill Schwartz 78, and Bob Gray, Rich Trombly, Mark Hagar and Kelly Shea 79.

In the 9-hole division, Hunter Way shot a 35, followed by Tom Gereau 38 and Joe Quinn, Korey Smith and Jim Hansen 39.

Irish Oaks women

GLADSTONE — Karen McCorkle and Amanda Norkoli each shot a 38 at the Irish Oaks Women’s League Monday. They were followed by Mary Bergman 39, Jamie Pond 43, Sally Erkkila, Pattie Kivioja, Rosie Spindler and Robin Schwartz 44, Cheryl Kamin and Debbie Peterson 45, Sue Cossette, Patti Kremers and Joyce Sheedlo 46, and Betty Andrews, Kirsten Vandeville and Pam Weddig 49.

Highland men

HYDE — Mark Ray shot a 72 to lead the way at the Highland Men’s League Tuesday. He was followed by Mike Brayak 76, Jim Peltier 78, and Don Cousineau and Dennis Dittrich 79.

Terrace Bluff women

GLADSTONE — Judy LaFleur shot a 41 at the Terrace Bluff Women’s League Tuesday. LaFleur was followed by Betty Fleury 42, Caron Salo 43, Patty Delveaux and Amy Stupak 45, Lauren Dementer, Debbie Valiquette and Jerry Nelson 46, Juanita Selin and Wendy Hathaway 47, Naty Steele 48, and Ann La Bumbard and Jeanne O’Donnell 49.

Gladstone women

GLADSTONE — Lori Shea shot a 40 at the Gladstone’s Women’s League Tuesday. Shea was followed by Karen McCorkle 42, Patti Valiquette and Cheryl Dykes 45, Wendy Bratonia 46, Mary Kallio, Ann Davison and Jami Pond 47, Sara Lustick, Jackie Forslund, Holly Canull, Judy Cappeart, Mary Bergman, Morgan Whitehead, Sally Erkkila, Debbie Parrett and Deb Lordson 48, and Sandi Dagenais and Vickie Isaacson 49.
