Cancer Alliance

golf scramble

ESCANABA — The 24th annual Delta County Cancer Alliance golf scramble will be held July 11 at Escanaba Country Club.

The four-person scramble fundraiser begins with lunch at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon. It will conclude with a steak supper at 5 p.m.

Entry fee is $80 per player. It is open to the public. Entry deadline is July 10, and golfers can call the pro shop (786-4430) or sign up at the clubhouse.

The golf event is one of three primary fundraisers for the Cancer Alliance and is sponsored by WDBC-WYKX radio and the Radio Results Network.

All proceeds are used by the Cancer Alliance to assist Delta County cancer patients. More than $1 million has been raised and distributed locally to more than 2,000 patients since the organization began in 1995.

Donations from area residents, merchants, businesses and trust funds are used to support cancer patients and their families.

To donate prizes for the golf outing, contact DCCA president Cheri Severinsen (786-1365) or ECC golf director Jeff Rae (786-4430).

The DCCA has a loan closet for patients to obtain free use of wheelchairs, commodes, canes, lift chairs, shower chairs, bedside tables, walkers, wigs, hospital beds, Depends, Ensure and other supplies.

The DCCA office is located at 3430 Ludington St.
